Keep Breathing

Sometimes things are not the way you want them to be. Sometimes all you can do is keep breathing and hope for better days. Better days that will come! Behind the clouds the sun is shining!

I want to change the world, instead I sleep
I want to believe in more than you and me

But all that I know is I'm breathing
All I can do is keep breathing
All we can do is keep breathing now

Polaroid Dreams

New House, New Pola-Wall, originally uploaded by Tod Brilliant.

This makes me want to go and buy a polaroid camera, shoot many, many pictures and fill an entire wall with them. Just the idea of taking a picture and seeing it develop slowly but steadily.

Should I or should I not...?

Note from the Universe #5

Another note full of wisdom from the Universe. Once again, just the words I needed to hear!

A few words on perspective:

In all of time and space, Lianne, there is no challenge, pothole, mountain, chasm, hurdle, or foe larger than you. Not even close.
Although if all you use to size them up are your physical senses... good luck!

Music in the spotlight #5

It must be amazing to have beautiful long red hair and a stunning voice. Florence Welch has both. Under the name Florence + The Machine she recorded her first album 'Lungs' and released it last year. Her music includes all the regular instruments (guitar, bass, keyboard, etc.) and a harp. And that particular instrument gives the music an 'extra dimension'.

I have listened to the album countless times this year. Can't get enough of her voice and extraordinary music. Too bad her concert was sold out before I noticed she will be performing in the Netherlands.

Florence + The Machine - Dog Days Are Over. Notice the beautiful harp in the chorus.

Florence + The Machine - Rabbit Heart (Raise It Up). One of my favorites.

You should listen the full album, every single song is great! Other examples on YouTube are You've Got the Love and Cosmic Love.

Writer's Block

(280) Note to Self:, originally uploaded by Sarajea.

I am feeling a bit uninspired. The right words just don't seem to get to me. Started many blog posts, but did not finish any. I'm afraid I'm having some kind of writer's block..

Any tips on getting rid of this annoying state of mind?

Are you looking at the stars?

Milky Way / Via Láctea, originally uploaded by Chaval Brasil.

"We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars."
- Oscar Wilde

Very good quote. This one will definitely make it into my Quote and Poem Book!
Just a little reminder to see the good things in life!

Note from the Universe #4

Think that it's fun, Lianne, that you're guided, and that all is well; that there's time, that life is easy, and that the best has yet to come.

Think that the reasons that elude you will one day catch up, that the lessons that have stumped you will one day bring joy, and that the sorrows that have crippled you will soon give you wings.

Think that you're important, that you cannot fail, and the happiness always returns.

And think that you're beautiful, Lianne

I do.

Day Zero Project: Week 6

It's about time for a progress report on my Day Zero Project. I'm actually having doubts about certain goals. Some of them are useless and/or uninteresting. I guess it's better to change or replace them now than wait until more days have passed. And I dislike the thought of spending the next 960 days with goals I don't really enjoy.

The goals I want to change are:

38. Rate every album I listen to on musicmeter
39. Rate every movie I see on moviemeter
40. Rate every book I read on boekmeter

I think these three goals are quite useless. If I want to rate a book, an album or a movie I will do it anyway. Why waste three goals?

46. Write 333 blog posts
47. Write 333 things in my paper journal

I think I will change these two into something like 'write a blog post every day for a month'. I will reach these two goals anyway, so they are not quite challenging I guess.

66. Leave 101 comments on blog posts that inspire me

I have lost track of my comments already, which is a good thing because this goal was meant to remind me to leave more comments on other blogs. But at the same time that makes this goal quite useless.

80. Take 1001 photographs

Not sure about changing this one, but I am having some doubts about it. I think I might be able to change it into something quite the same, but more interesting.

Another thing I really need to do is explaining what I have to do to complete goals like 'develop an exercise routine'.

Thus, in short, my list requires some updates, upgrades and changes.

What do you think about my plans? Every single comment and idea is very welcome and will be taken seriously.

Edit: Two more doubts: 'Read every book I own' (#35) and 'Read a book for at least 30 minutes' (#36).

Note from the Universe #3

Ever have that feeling, Lianne, that your life, your true work, has not yet begun?

Ever feel like you're here for something more than you've yet identified? And that a billion eyes are upon you, just waiting for the prophecy to unfold?

Hmmmmmm......

And, have you also ever wanted something so badly that all your wishing, hoping, and praying kept you from seeing that you had it all along?

Precisely,
The Universe

A Capella

Perpetuum Jazzile is an a capella choir that sings pop songs. I think you all know the song 'Africa' by Toto (and if you don't you should listen to it now). This version by the choir is amazing! Pay attention to the beginning of the video. Close your eyes and listen. I bet you can see the rain falling down.

Notice that they use no instruments! The beatboxer makes every single drumming sound.

So You Think You Can Dance?

Well these two sure can! This combination of dance and music gives me the chills every single time.

This is a dance from Els and Angelo on the Dutch and Belgium version of So You Think You Can Dance. The music is (of course) Comptine d'un Autre Été from the movie Le Fabuleux Destin d'Amélie Poulain.

Mesmerizing!

Note from the Universe #2

It's wonderful how certain combinations of words can make you feel so much better. Ingrid wrote a beautiful post called Beautiful Beyond Measure. It features everything I needed to hear!

And, on top of that, I received another inspiring Note from the Universe today.
It says:

Every day, Lianne, someone new falls in love with you.

Sometimes many more.

You can't deny it,
The Universe

Thank you for all your kind words!
